What is Hair Transplantation?
Hair transplantation is a natural and permanent solution to the problem of thinning and baldness in people with hair loss or hair loss. The process of transplanting healthy hair follicles to the areas where the hair follicle is no longer active and balding occurs is called hair transplantation. In hair transplantation, the patient’s own healthy hair is added to the hair loss area. Hair transplantation is planned and applied completely individually. With the hair transplant operation, the patient’s hair follicles that are resistant to hair loss, usually in the nape of the neck, are collected and transplanted into the channels opened in the parts that are thinning or completely lost. The aim is to provide a natural, permanent hairy appearance that will not be obvious that transplantation has been performed in the head area. Hair transplantation is actually a minor surgical operation. For this reason, it is the safest way to be performed in a hospital environment by specialized and experienced doctors and team. With hair transplantation, the person’s own hair is permanently restored as if it had never fallen out. Our aim in hair transplantation is to restore the natural hairy appearance to the person in a comfortable way with modern medical applications.
How is hair transplantation done?
In the application, hair follicles taken from the nape of the neck are usually transplanted to the targeted balding area. These hair follicles are called grafts. Rarely, in some cases, the person does not have a sufficient density of healthy hair on the nape of the neck or temple area. In such cases, hair follicles can also be harvested from other areas containing hair such as the arms or chest wall. The application takes place in a few hours depending on the amount of hair loss. If the balding area is very large, several sessions may be required to complete the treatment.
Usually the intervention is performed under local anesthesia with sedation. A special bandage is applied to the head after hair transplantation. The person is discharged after 1-2 hours. Although it is very rare, pain conditions can be controlled with painkillers. Generally, after 3 days of home rest, you can return to work with your head covered. First dressing 5. is made on the day.
